The Guatemalan Pacific Coastline is entirely a black sand beach. The black sand comes from the volcanoes in the coast line, different from the their white sand counterparts which are coral in origin.
The most popular beach is Monterrico or Paredon. The atmosphere is quiet, perfect for lying in a hammock, read a book and have a relaxing day. Paredon is known for its surfing atmosphere, while Monterrico is all about the beach and the sun.
Utz Zaba Hotel: A hotel located in the middle of mangroves and beachside. It has a large pool and two Jacuzzis.
El Paredon Surf House (mid)- A small hotel owned by surfers for surfers. Located at the beach front in a very quiet area. The food is excellent and the perfect size pool to cool off.
